Born 1960 in Glasgow, Muir studied at Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art and Design, 1978 – 1982, completing a Post Graduate in 1983, where she studied under eminent artists such as Alberto Morrocco, David McClure and Will McLean, winning the John Milne Purvis Prize, a major traveling scholarship to Italy – and most recently received the Small Paintings Award (RSW), the Adame Aware; the William Armour Award and the Art Hire Framing award (PAI).
Having tutored at various collages , Muir focused on painting full-time in 2006 from her studio in Newport-on-Tay. Her paintings reflect the studio environment, where her still-life incorporates narratives that develops when objects and characters begin to populate the canvas.
Muir is one of Scotland’s most prolific and dedicated contemporary painters. Her work is held in collections around the world and she exhibits throughout the UK
